Welcome to Greensboro

City Skyline Greensboro-NCGreensboro North Carolina is the third-largest city by population in North Carolina and the largest city in Guilford County with approximate population of 275,000 residents.  It is part of what is commonly called the Piedmont Triad which combines Greensboro, High Point and Winston Salem which includes a population of more than 1.6 million residents.

The city was named for Major General Nathanael Greene, commander of the American forces at the Battle of Guilford Court House from the American Revolutionary War.

Greensboro Neighborhoods

Are you considering the Greensboro area for your next home? Well, let us be the first to tell you that Greensboro is a fantastic place to call home and features a wide variety of neighborhoods in which to live. Whether you are looking for classic southern charm of a neighborhood like Sunset Hills or the upscale, tree-lined streets of Irving Park, Greensboro has a neighborhood just for you!Or, if you prefer a little room to “stretch your wings”, you will find a more relaxed, rural setting with larger parcels just a short distance outside the city limits. Across the northwest part of the Greensboro, you will find several watershed lakes and parks that provide a focal point for recreation in the area. A variety of hiking and biking trails, parks, public pools and fishing can be found at areas like Lake Brandt, Bur Mil Park, and the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park.

There are few residential communities along the northwest lakes with the exception of Lake Jeannette which has both lakefront living but also a small marina and swim and tennis club. Communities across the northwest part of Guilford County also enjoy easy access to freeways and air travel with Piedmont Triad International Airport just a short commute from neighborhoods like the Cardinal & River Hills which surround a the Sedgefield Country Club Dye Course, named for the famed golf course designer Pete Dye who originally constructed the course in 1974 and restored it in 2007.

Many residents prefer the timeless architecture of neighborhoods such as Fisher Park or Westerwood with their turn of the century architecture and classic designs, while others prefer the wooded parks and running trails of a community like Hamilton Lakes. Like to be close to shopping and restaurants…then you will want to take a look at the Starmount neighborhood which is a short commute to the Friendly Center shops which boast fine dining at Flemings or PF Changs, shopping at their many boutiques or taking in a movie at the Grande Theaters. In addition, you will find a variety of architecture to suit any taste from the mill-type homes in Guilford Hills to the traditional brick facades of Green Valley. There are also the ever-popular neighborhoods of Lake Daniel, Kirkwood, and Lindley Park. No matter what you are looking for in a new home, Greensboro has what you are looking for!

Greensboro Schools

Guilford County is proud to offer its residents a stellar, award-winning education in a thriving, multi-cultural community. Our county has a strong commitment to education, with six four-year universities, a two-year community college and a law school within its borders. Our award-winning early/middle colleges give high school students a chance to experience the collegiate world in a safe, transitional environment. Four year universities include Greensboro College, Guilford College, University of North Carolina-Greensboro (UNCG), High Point University, North Carolina A&T and Bennett College.  Guilford Technical Community College offers several campus locations with classes ranging from aviation, dental hygience, automotive and applied sciences to name just a few. Greensboro Attractions

There is plenty to do and see in the Greensboro area  from annual festivals to sporting events to our fabulous network of hiking paths and lakes. If you love to spend time outdoors, you will want to find your way to the Bicentennial Greenway, a network of hiking and biking trails that interconnect throughout the county.  Grab your mountain bike and hit the Nat Green trail at Bur Mil Park in northwest Greensboro where you can also enjoy fishing, picnicing and par 3 golf. SciQuariumOutdoor enthusiasts will love the fact that there are a half dozen lakes bordering the county including Belews, Brandt, Higgins, Townsend to name a few.  Jog one of the many paths throughout the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, stroll the Tanger Bicentennial Gardens or take in the sights at the newly renovated Greensboro Natural Science Center which now sports a zoo! One of our favorite pastimes is to take in a game at New Bridge Bank Ballpark to watch our minor league team the Greensboro Grasshoppers play.  It is certainly a sweet slice of Americana! You will find plenty to enjoy in our great city including a play at the Carolina Theatre or the Broach Theatre, shopping at The Friendly Center, or golf at one of our fine courses like Bryan Park.
